Story

Hello everyone!

Firstly I just want to say thank you for taking the time to read this and donating whatever you can. I really appreciate anything you can put towards this amazing charity and myself for doing this pretty mammoth task, consisting of a 3.2K swim, swiftly followed by a 180K bike, and finished off with a Marathon 26.2 miles. May I add, up and down some very steep hills in Tenby, Wales (easy peasy i keep telling myself)…

“WHY, JOSH?” Is a question I have received more times than I’ve had breakfast this year I think. A few reasons; partly because I’m a bit on the mad scale and as well the Ironman is something that’s been on my hit list for a long time. Exploring the options I have managed to get the opportunity to represent and raise money and awareness for this unbelievable charity, Alzheimer’s research UK.

Now, I understand that we are all busy people and some of us are struggling financially too, after all it is a difficult time! The difference you can make even donating £0.50p is massive, it’s encouragement for me but more importantly it’s enabling me to reach my target minimum of £3,500 by September, but you can still donate 4 weeks after the event.

There are almost 1,000,000 people living with Alzheimers in the UK and is set to increase to 1,600,000 by 2050. This is the most common cause of dementia, affecting around 6 in every 10 people with dementia in the UK.

Those of you who know me fairly well, will know i have recently started working with SWAST (Ambulance), in South Devon. This role has enabled me to meet people living with Alzheimer’s disease, which has been amazing to learn more about it. As we know this can be an incredibly difficult time for the people who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and the family and friends of that loved one. If you are someone who has known someone with this condition, it would be amazing if you could message me personally and tell me about your story. It’s good to talk, laugh and cry about it!

So enough waffle from me, here goes the asking bit…

If YOU have even £0.50p, £10 or kind enough to donate even more this will go along way for me and more importantly the charity.

Thank you for reading and donating,

Josh x

Alzheimer's Research UK

Almost one million people are living with dementia today. Tragically, not one of them will survive.

Alzheimer’s Research UK exists to change that.

As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, we are working to revolutionise the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. And then, we will find a way to cure it.

To do this, we’re investing in the best research, powering the most forward-thinking scientists and joining forces with world-class organisations.

With your support, we promise we will not stop until dementia can no longer destroy lives.

We are Alzheimer’s Research UK.

We exist for a cure.
